I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful March evening to take photos of the lovely Alexia. I've known Alexia longer than I can even remember, so I'm feeling very old now seeing her graduating highschool! I had a lot of fun photographing Alexia, she was up for anything!

I about died when I saw this amazing blossoming tree!

WPPI 2012 ~ Las Vegas, NV

Once a year wedding & portrait photographers from all around the country - scratch that - all around the GLOBE, gather in Las Vegas for the biggest photography convention of it's kind! 16,000 photographers attended and this year I was able to be one of them - my first time! And let me just say, it was awesome!

I seriously wanted a few clones - one to sit in on all the amazing classes, one to attend all the fun parties & get togethers, and one to possibly help me stay caught up on sleep & eating! But alas, I had to go without clones but I had a great time experiencing all of it. I was able to hear some of my very favorite photographers speaking, including Jose Villa, Elizabeth Messina, and Mike Colon. I also got to hear Zach & Jody Gray speak and I seriously wish I could have taken their workshop! One funny thing though, as we were headed to our room we happened to walk by Zach & Jody's workshop...

As we were spying through the window, Zach ran over and shared a sneak with all us onlookers of an amazing "in-camera" shot! Next time I'll hopefully be on the other side of the glass!

And my trip to WPPI would not have been the same without my fantastic hotel-roomates! Kristen Booth, Ty LaMothe, Faith Teasley, Krystal Morgan and I were constantly laughing. Quite often the laughter was spurred on by either slices of bread making a 26 story nosedive off the hotel balcony or planking on the hotel's moving walkways.

Seriously though, these girls were a blast and by some miracle, there were hardly any bathroom-sharing problems - pretty amazing for 5 girls & one bathroom!

Kristen & I attended some ROCKING parties, one being Airplanes & Blazers and the other (my personal favorite) was Prohibition Rebellion. I loved the Prohibition Rebellion party because costumes were not only encourage, they were required! The theme was 1920's and the venue, the Artisan Hotel, couldn't have been more perfect! I tried to take a few photos of it on my iPhone but it wasn't doing it justice, you should definitely check out their website HERE. I've decided that (cool) costume parties are my new favorite thing!

I was able to sit in on a few Showit United Classes, but once again, a clone would have come in so handy because there were so many that I missed simply because there wasn't enough time. Showit is such uniquely awesome company! They decided to put together 3 days of talented speakers all for FREE simply because they wanted to unite & encourage the "Showiteers" that use their website software. So here's Showit, having this amazing software, then they go and put on this amazing conference! The Showit Crew are some cool cats.

On our final day we decided, we better take some photos of each other! What better time than to take some photos than when you are surrounded by a bunch of photographers! What started as a normal photoshoot somehow turned into all of us taking turns jumping around like we were CRAZY, all while holding on to our cameras. It resulted in some hilarious photos!

Faith got a shot of Kristen & I being photographers - Matrix style... haha!

I guess I ought to include a few of us looking somewhat normal :)

I had such an amazing time. I met SO many amazing photographers and learned so many things that I cannot wait to put into practice! WPPI you were awesome!

Schulz Family {Sacramento Family Photoshoot}

When taking pictures of 10 month-olds, you never know how well they will cooperate. Well with 10 month old Liam, you couldn't have asked for a more cooperative & happy baby! Added bonus - he's super adorable! Quite the little model for sure. I had a great afternoon enjoying the beautiful February weather with Liesl and Jeff and baby Liam of course. I love watching Jeff & Liesl with Liam, they such great parents!

Look at those eyes! They are so unique! I think they are three different colors.

Does it get any cuter than baby boys in "old man" clothes? Nope it sure doesn't!

Liam, you seriously need to be in a Baby Gap ad!

Cano Family {Davis Family Photoshoot}

The Canos are such a sweet family. So full of love for their family as well as anyone they meet. It's a joy to spend time with them and taking their photos was no exception. Really they are picture perfect... see for yourself!Had to get some shots of all the handsome guys.But of course we didn't forget the lovely ladies :)Little Sammy is getting so big! He will be running across the park before you know it!Look out Mom & Dad, I think you have yourselves a heart throb on your hands! Dolan you are getting so grown up! And sweet little Evelyn. She is completely adorable, everything a little girl should be. Last but not least - Sam! This cute guy sure knows how to put a smile on your face!

Rick and Rhonda are something special. They have been married for quite a few years now but they are so in love you would think they were newlyweds. I love seeing them so in love.

2011 {A Review}

Wow 2011 was an amazing year! I can't only imagine what 2012 holds! I wanted to do a quick look back at some of my favorite shots of 2011. I just gotta say, I sure am fortunate to take photos of such good lookin people, places, & things! :)

Here's a sneak peak of a beautiful Napa wedding I haven't posted just yet.... stay tuned!And last but certainly not least, here is my family! Technically it's not a photo I took, but it is one of my favorites of 2011 so I had to include it! :)

Merry Christmas to Me :)

Well I bought myself a little Christmas present this year... I don't think I can ever remember buying myself a Christmas present before but I couldn't pass this one up...

Once the banks open back up next week I will be able to finish paperwork and get the keys to my first house!

I've been searching for a house for over a year now, and after a few houses that fell through, this one landed in my lap! It's perfect for me and I now know why all the other houses didn't work out, this one was meant to be! :)

Merry Christmas to Me!

It's Christmas Time in the City {San Francisco}

Last weekend my sister, Jessica, and I went on a mini-get away to the city on the bay - San Francisco! We took a "Holiday Lights Tour" around the city and it was really neat! I've lived in Northern California all my life and made many trips to San Francisco, but I've never really been on an "official" tour of San Francisco. Needless to say there was a lot I learned about the Golden Gate City! Before the tour we spent a little time down at Pier 39 then walked down to Fisherman's Warf. Jessica and I love all things Christmasy so we we had a blast! :)

We finished up the tour at the beautiful Fairmont Hotel. They had a gorgeous Christmas tree and a 2-story life size Gingerbread House! Apparently the Chef has to make daily "repairs" to the house due to "hungry" onlookers...

Kingsbury Family {Dixon family photography}

The Kingsbury family is super special to me because they were some of my very first clients! This session has long been in the works because it was very important to Kirsty to do a family photo with everyone together, and up until a few months ago part of the family lived in Texas. Thankfully they are all together again and we were able to get everyone together. This family will have a few more faces added to it before too long, Kirsty & Cassie are both expecting baby boys next year!
Next we have all the lovely ladies. It's a good thing a couple of baby boys are on the way, they will help balance things out! :)And here we have the handsomest ones of the group :)We couldn't pass up the chance for some family shots.

C.Jay & Anna {Old Sacramento Engagement Session}

I've made many a trip to Old Sacramento over the years but this was my first time doing a photography session there. I loved the versatility!

We had a beautiful November evening. The day before was cold & rainy but we couldn't have asked for better weather - I love it when that happens! We scheduled the shoot the first evening of day lights savings so it was weird having to make sure we started shooting at 4pm so that we still had daylight - I'm not sure I'm ready for the short winter days! On the other hand, Anna and I both agreed we are ready for the cooler weather - bring on the sweaters and peacoats and scarves! Speaking of which, Anna & CJay nailed it on wardrobe, reminds me of everything fall & cozy.

Anna & CJay are a joy to work with, they are everything a couple should be. They met during orientation at college and it didn't take too long for them to realize they met their perfect match. And now, here they are planning a wedding for this coming May!
As it turns out, we started the photoshoot not too far from where CJay proposed! How cool is that! Now onto the photos of these two beautiful people! :)

Enjoy this time you two! The wedding will be here before we know it and I absolutely cannot wait!

Sheldon-Woller Family {Dixon Family Portraits}

When was the last time you had your family photo taken? If you can't remember or if your family has doubled in size since the last one, that is no bueno! The Sheldon Family are good friends of mine and while their family was in town visiting from out of state, we jumped at the opportunity take a photo of the entire family. I think they're a picture-perfect family if you ask me! What you don't know is that my twin sisters were jumping around behind me getting the attention of all those kiddos! And as you can see, it worked! :)
We didn't stop at just the group shot, we couldn't pass up the chance for some individual family photos too! Here we have Nate & Nicki with the newest addition to the Woller family, the adorable little Lacey!
Next we have the Sheldon family! :)Usually I'm snapping photos of the Sheldon kids but this time we did some mom & dad pictures. This one wins the official sweetest-cousin-picture-ever award! Lily {Davis Newborn Photography}

Isn't that the truest thing? I had the privilege of capturing some newborn portraits of baby Lily with her family. Alicia and James drove down from Placerville and we spent an Saturday morning taking these sweet photos. Lily was a great little model, I forget how easy it can be to capture newborns because they don't move any where and most of the time they are just sleeping away! I hope when Lily's older she will be able to look back at these photos and see how much her family loves her, and how adorable and tiny she was! :)

Lily has an adorbale big brother named Jace who came along for the photoshoot of course! He had the biggest blue eyes and how can you not love that cute grin!? I loved seeing him give his baby sister kisses, melt my heart! :)

Seth & Breanne {Fairfield Paradise Valley Wedding}

I had the chance to assist at a wedding for Jaimi Lynn Photography earlier this month. It was great getting to work with Jaimi as well as spending the day with a couple as sweet as Seth & Breanne. The wedding took place at the Paradise Valley Golf Course on a beautiful September day. It was probably one of the coolest dates of the year - 9/10/11. Shouldn't be too hard to remember that anniversary! ;)

Aiden {Fairfield Christening & Reception}

I had the privilege of photographing adorable little Aiden's christening at his family's church Holy Spirit Church in Fairfield. It as so awesome to see how many of his family & friends of the family came out to support them.

Sara {Inspired Session}

Sometimes things just fall together perfectly. Sort of like this shoot. For starters, the dress was something I picked up at Goodwill a YEAR ago and it just so happened to fit the lovely Sara EXACTLY right. Then our original location we attempted shooting out didn't quite pan out as we hoped... After a few wrong turns we found our selves in a picture perfect location. Couldn't have picked a better spot if we tried. Everything flowed effortlessly from there (well aside from the mini-work out we got trying to get to the top of the trail before the sun went down!)

This photoshoot was just for fun and I absolutely loved how these images turned out. And it doesn't hurt that my wonderful friend Sara is absolutely GORGEOUS. Gorgeous x's 9,999,999,999,999.

Baby Girl S {1 Year Old Photoshoot}

Look who turned one!! My little "niece"! Well, technically she isn't my niece but she is my best friend's baby girl so it's close enough! It hard to believe that last summer I took these 4 month old photos of her & here she is, growing up and getting more adorable by the second! It's love to see how little guys change - and so fast.

I actually took these photos at the end of May, and since I live in a different state it is sure making me miss her!

Jessie {Davis portrait photography}

Back in May my lovely friend Jessie visited me from Texas and helped me second shoot a wonderful wedding. Before she had to head back home the two of us went out one Sunday afternoon and had a blast taking photos of each other. She is so natural in the front of the camera & made my job way too easy.

Jessie has an amazing opportunity to go overseas and nanny for her Niece and Nephew who are there with Jessie's sister & brother-in-law, who live in - get this - the Arab Peninsula in the middle east! Part of her time would also be spent at the picturesque town of Izmir in Turkey, which is right on the Aegean Sea. To help her raise the funds for this once in a life time chance (and give her sister the opportunity to attend a conference to help with the teaching they are a part of) she is selling her lovely paintings! Happy Birthday America!

It's actually a big thing for Dixon to allow fireworks... it's the first time in 40 years they have been sold & allowed them in city limits!

Grandest of Pianos {Napa photography}

A beautiful Friday in June I headed to Napa to do a different sort of photoshoot. It didn't involve babies or couples or families... but it still held so much meaning. Let me back up a little. I received a sweet email from Shanna and she described to me an idea she had for a gift for she wanted to give her mom, Susan.

You see, 18 years ago when her mom became engaged to her Step-dad, Dennis, he gave her a beautiful, white grand piano as an engagement present - and most guys just stop at the ring! ;) Tragically, Dennis passed away about 10 years ago. In his memory, the piano has been beautifully displayed in Susan's home. Presently, Susan is selling her house because of circumstances out of her control which sadly means the piano has to go to storage for an undetermined amount of time. Due to space limitations in the new place, there most likely will not be room to display the treasured piano.

And here is where Shanna's idea came in... Even though her mom may not be able to display the actual piano, why not capture a photo of it that her mom can always have with her no matter where life takes her. So that is exactly what we did! :) From the sunlight pouring in from the windows, to the amazing bird-of paradise (Susan's favorite flower) picked right from the garden, it was perfect! I hope the photos are able to bring to mind many wonderful memories whenever they are looked upon.

There is special significance in that little cowboy boot. Dennis & Susan won it during a square dance competition!

Mike & Jenn {Cherry Valley wedding}

There is something so refreshing being around two people so in love, and so in love with life. That describes Mike & Jenn to a "T"! Mike & Jenn's first dance was to Jack Johnson's "Better Together" & there was no denying they felt every word of that song. When you have the one you love by your side, life is just simply, better when you're together!

Mike & Jenn were married at a beautiful venue in Cherry Valley, CA ~ the Edward Dean Museum. When you think "museum" you might not immediately thing "wedding!" but when I saw the gorgeous grounds of this place I was so excited to shoot there!

Because of the distance between us - I in Northern CA and Jenn in AZ, we weren't able to meet until the day before the wedding. Sometimes that might be difficult, but not with Jenn - she was so fun & easy going. That same fun, easy going attitude surrounded Jenn the entire wedding day - zero Bridezilla here folks!

And what a beautiful bride she was, just look how stunning she is!

Before the wedding started we grab some shots of the guys. Mike was very calm, cool, and collected. And looking handsome as ever!

Jenn's dress was lovely, I wanted to keep it for myself! So flowy & romantic. (spell check says that flowy isn't a word but I must disagree)

And then it was time for the big event, all the months of planning where happening NOW. And let me tell you, they couldn't have picked a nicer to day to get married, not a chance!

One of the reason the day was so fun to capture was that I got to spend a fair amount of time with Mike & Jenn's bridal party. They were awesome. For example, this photo!

Now for one of my favorite parts of the day. The time I get to sneak off with bride & groom. Right as the sun was setting, no less! :)

LOVE this one. I think this photo deserves to be on the cover a fairy tale story book.

Everywhere we went on the grounds of the Edward Dean Musuem there were these perfect spots to take photos in.

The reception kicked off with a romantic first dance, ever so nicely choreographed. I even had some extra help documenting it ;)

Dinner was awesome. Not only was it delicious BBQ it was cooked on this rad wagon BBQ!

This cake was delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Mike & Jenn had a fantastic photobooth at the reception! Seriously one of the best ideas ever. My second shooter Ty & I even jumped in and took a couple pictures. So fun!

Sheldon Kids {Davis family Photoshoot}

There's something I love about taking pictures of little kids. They (usually!) aren't worried about how their hair looks, what their friends will think of the pictures if they smile the biggest smile they can muster, & they're not afraid to be themselves with a camera pointed at them (although some do put on more of a "show" than others haha!). Well the Sheldon kiddos are no exception! I love seeing their smiling faces whether or not I have my camera! :)

First we will start out with a familiar face, little Miss Piper. You don't have to ask her twice to smile for you. She is seriously way too cute for her own good! ;)

Next we have sweet Saylor. We got a lot of smiles & giggles out her, although she isn't a fan of looking at the camera. But I like a bit of a challenge & I just love these shots of her!

Now let me introduce the handsomest of the group, Ranger! He is such a funny guy, always saying the cutest things & making me laugh. With him wearing his awesome little suit I felt like I was shooting an ad for the J Crew catalog or something of that sort, loved it! He is definitely 100% boy, hence the appearance of sticks in the first shot. (haha)

We wrapped up the afternoon with a shot of all three. How cute would it be to take a picture of the three of them on this same bench a few years from now...!

Aaron & Amanda {Suisun Valley wedding}

When Amanda and I talked on the Monday before her wedding the forecast was looking not so great... Rain on your outdoor ceremony is not ideal! But Saturday rolled around and we were blessed with zero rain!

Aaron & Amanda got married at the fantastic Ledgewood Creek Winery just outside of Fairfield in the Suisun Valley. It's a hidden gem & a lovely spot to get married at. During the ceremony I couldn't help but think how peaceful it was there :)

I absolutely loved Aaron & Amanda, or A&A :) They are both so incredibly kind, it's no wonder they wound up together. If the future brides & grooms I work with are anything like them I will be the luckiest photographer on the planet! One of my favorite things was how you could tell how much they loved each other, just by looking at them. Aaron had eyes for no other but his beautiful bride. Amanda's face lit up the moment she saw him.

It was all I could do to not tear up while I was shooting.

Stop & Smell the Sunlight {Dixon photography}

These next few months are going to busy ones! I'm making lists all over the place just so I don't forget something I'm supposed to remember. But, sometimes you have to take a little break. Ashlyn's 1st Birthday {Dixon party}

I had such a fun time doing some photos for little Miss Ashlyn Rose! I can't believe she's one already! It feels like it was just a month or two ago I was at her babyshower! Wow!

Her mommy, Rose, is so artistic/crafty! Not only is she an amazing photographer, she put together so many great details for the party! From the photo-banner over the present area, to the picture-mobile, to the guest book - it was all superb!

Here we have the birthday girl welcoming you to her party! :)

Here is the adorable guestbook which of course featured Rose's fabulous photography! All the little baby guests "signed" in by leaving a hand print!

It sparkled! And tasted that much better because, hello! it sparkles!! :)

Ashlyn had on the cutest hat I think I've ever seen!! Perfectly adorned with a rose, for who else but Ashlyn Rose.

We attempted a group photo of all of Ashlyn's friends,

but sometimes when you're tiny, bubbles just don't put a smile on your face!

Spring is in the air!

When I found out that a friend had just gotten some new baby chicks I had to see them... and a baby chicken photoshoot ensued! (sorry if you think that's odd, but I'm a sucker for baby animals...) Also I thought it would be rather fitting consider it being Easter weekend!

Modeling is a hard day's work! ;)

While little baby chicks are just the cutest thing this side the Mississippi river, Easter eggs, bunnies, and all thing spring aren't what the true meaning of Easter is all about. Actually "Easter" isn't even what I should say I'm celebrating, this weekend is I am celebrating the Resurrection of my Savior, Jesus Christ!

I compiled with my Pastor to put together a short video that was played at my church's Good Friday service. If you have 5 minutes, please take a moment & think about what it means.

Even though the video has a serious message, it's not where things end. Jesus died on the cross because of our sins but he did it because of his great love for us. It really blows my mind that the maker of the universe died for someone so undeserving as me.

And the best part of the story... three days after he died, he rose again! Hallelujah I Know That My Redeemer Lives!

Hello there! I thought I'd share some of my favorites right now :)

Emma ~ the 2009 BBC version

Now you may be familiar with Gwyneth Paltrow's 1996 movie of Jane Austen's "Emma". It's a favorite for sure! Well a couple weeks ago my sisters & I rented BBC's 2009 version of Emma, and it was wonderful! They did a great job of casting, everyone really fit their part. If you like anything Jane Austen you will love it! Go rent or buy it now! You will be dreaming of Mr. Knightly for about a week straight. (Disclaimer, I cannot guarantee that last sentence but it is highly likely!)

Estate Sales

I love a good antique store, thrift store, and even garage sales. But there's something in particular I love about estate sales. Perhaps it's because the theme of garage sales are "one man's junk is another man's treasure" and with estate sales, it feels like you are having the chance to buy something that was someone's treasure. Maybe it be their collection of tea cups or a nice dresser - this wasn't the stuff they considered junk. They may have been holding onto it for 65 years! Now, I know that not everyone has the same style... but that's what makes things interesting. I've joined a couple mailing lists that alert me of local estate sales, so fun!

Graeter's Ice Cream

Some friends of mine have family back in Ohio and they just got back from a visit. They brought home along with them THE most delicious ice cream on the face of this earth. I'm sorry but I will argue this point with anyone, haha! On one of their past visits they brought home mint chip and it was true love at first taste. Yesterday I got to try Buckeye Blitz, which is chocolate + peanut butter goodness. Now I just saw online that they have a flavor called Strawberry Chip which is basically strawberries + dark chocolate - how does it get any better?? If you are ever traveling through Ohio, you can definitely bring me back a pint, k? :)

My New 5D Mark II

Happy Birthday to K&J!

Last week my "little" sisters, Katie & Jessica turned 21! Sometimes I still think I'm 21, how did I get so old? Hopefully now that my sisters are 21 I'll be able to remember I'm a couple years older than that! haha

We went to an awesome restaurant in downtown Davis called Bistro 33. We were blessed with a beautiful spring evening & sat out on the patio. We all had a great time enjoying wonderful company, delicous food, and celebrated two wonderful girls I've been thankful to know these past 21 years! Love you Katie and Jessica!

Audrey {1 Year Old Portraits}

Look who turned one! Audrey did! She may look familiar because I did a family session back in November of her family, but we wanted to make sure we set aside some time to do some specific one year old portraits of Audrey.

Audrey has been walking since before she even turned one, and by now she is an old pro! She was on the go during her session which was a challenge, but still fun because we got to take pictures in lot of different spots! Nobody covers ground like a one year old with lots of energy! :)

One of the cutest things during the session is that she wanted to be everywhere her big sister, Margaret was. I sure wouldn't mind a little sister with this adorable face chasing me around! ;)

House Hunters International

Love this show! So I never see myself becoming a realtor, but I do think it would be a blast seeing all sorts of homes. Especialy ones with character! :) Which is probably why I love this HGTV show so much! Basically the show takes you on someone's search for a new home. On each episode you see three of their options. At the end of the show they reveal which one they pick. Sometimes I can easily figure out which house they will choose (or at least that I would choose...) but other times it's really strange what they pick, haha! What also makes it interesting are all the different locations the house hunting is happening in and how much housing varies from country to country! I've decided I love the style of Norwegian houses but I'm not a fan of the houses in Jamaica! Now if only the two countries could swap weather I would be set! ;) Speaking of house hunting.... I'm on the hunt myself! More on that later! :)

Urban Outfitters Furniture

Gah, I love this stuff. I ~~want~~ NEED to have it. ;) This alone has made me setup a furniture fund at my bank. I can't wait until I have a little house to fill with this sort of amazing furniture!

Craigslist "Free Stuff"

Do you ever read these ads on Craigslist? They are an amazing source of entertainment. And budget friendly too... because if you ever found something you HAD to have, at least it would be free! ;) But seriously... some of the stuff on there is just beyond me. I am so excited about this BRAND SPANKIN NEW wedding shop that has stemmed off from the ever so fabulous Anthropologie. (Pronounced Beholden - they just have a thing against vowels apparently). Basically, this is Anthropologie meets Weddings. AKA my dream store meets weddings. You have no idea how much I want to go play dress up in some of these gowns & accessories!!

Aaron & Amanda {Solano County engagement session}

What could be better than spending all morning shooting a picture perfect couple who are completely in love?? Basically, NOT MUCH! I had such a fantastic time doing this engagement session with Amanda & Aaron, the time just flew by! They are such naturals in front of the camera, I can't even handle how excited I am for their May wedding!

Aaron & Amanda as a couple makes the most sense in the world. It may sound cliche, but they were definitely made for each other. There was no denying it as I spent the morning with them. During their relationship they have had to spend time apart, as both of them have served in the Air Force, so you can see just how much they appreciate just being with each other.

This session is unique because it's practically two engagement sessions in one because we shot at two awesome places! We started off the engagement session at Linde Lane Tearoom in Dixon, a place I have take photos of before, but not with a gorgeous couple! And for the record, WAY more fun with people! :) A big THANK YOU to the Tea Room gals for letting us shoot there.

Enough gabbing, onto the good stuff! As you will see I had a hard time narrowing down which pictures to blog, but I ended up deciding, it's my blog, I shall blog however many I want! :)

Living in California may have some drawbacks such as high taxes, high cost of living, crazy laws & politicians... but you sure can't beat the weather!! While most the country was freezing & getting snowed on, we had this beautiful 75 degree February day without a cloud in sight! I think I even had to use my air conditioning on the way home from the shoot!

Oh and PS, I pretty much love everything about this picture...

Because of their service to our country, Amanda had the brilliant idea to incorporate our country's flag into the shoot!

In honor of Valentines Day, I thought I'd share one of my very favorite love stories...

It started off with a California boy taking a trip with his buddies to Hawaii to celebrate his 21st birthday. One rainy afternoon the guys found their way to a little bar in the International Marketplace to listen to some live music. Here's where it starts to get good... Walks in a tall, blond, gorgeous girl. She was there in Waikiki on "holiday" with her brother, escaping the snow back home in Calgary, Canada. Well, California boy started making bets that this pretty thing was there with either: A-her new husband, B-her fiancee, or C-her boyfriend...

It just so happened that Canadian girl noticed this fine looking group of boys. Her & her brother ended up moving closer to the band so that, as she claims, they could "here the music better". Of course, the boys were conveniently close to where the band was playing. One thing lead to another and California boy ended up talking to Canadian girl. California boy asked as soon as he could slip it in, "So, who are you here with?" And in reply Canadian girl let him know she was definitely there on holiday with her BROTHER! (she emphasized the brother part) Once California boy got this bit of good news there was no turning back. After seeing each other a couple more times in Hawaii, these two love birds kept in touch - and this was pre-facebook, pre-email, pre-texting, and pre-cellphones...

After a lot of letters, phone calls, and a few long distance visits they decided to make it official. Canadian girl left all her family behind and made the big move to the USA. A wedding & a few years later a bouncing baby girl came along, who is of course, yours truly! :)

It just goes to show you that no matter where you are & what the circumstances are, God will bring that perfect person into your life. Even if it's while you're visiting a tiny island drinking Mai-Tais on a rainy day in paradise.

Mom & Dad thank you for giving my such a beautiful example of true love. Your dedication & self sacrifice to each other means so much to me! I love you! :)

Petersen Family {Davis family photoshoot}

This session worked out so perfectly... Lindsey contacted me on a Monday because her brother was going to be in town & before he left they wanted to get some family pictures. I was free the following Saturday & the sun decided to shine, and the rest just fell into place for a great shoot!

One of the funniest things happened twice on this shoot, and it's actually never happened to me during a photoshoot before. Two different times while I was taking pictures of their family, geared with my Shootsac camera bag & camera, passersby asked if I wanted to get in the picture too. I guess I just looked like part of the family, haha! After the fact I wish I said "Sure"! It would have been rather funny have that shot :)

Mason {Dixon photoshoot}

Mason & I got together to take some rad pictures and we sure had a blast doing it! We decided to do a night shoot because during these winter months, daylight is pretty much against us. By the time he gets off work, the sun is going, going, gone! Plus, I thought the "mood" fit Mason rather well.... much better than a golden field of wheat in the afternoon sunshine would! haha

Christmas, oh how I love Christmas. It's truly my favorite time of year. Sometimes I wish Christmas time lasted two months because it's always over in a flash. Probably one of the reasons I love Christmas is because I love shopping for presents for friends and family. It just wouldn't feel like Christmas if I wasn't out on my 800th shopping trip a day or two before Christmas getting one or two more last minute things. Although I must say I did quite a bit of online shopping this year and that is definitely the way to go! Especially when Free Super Saver Shipping is involved! Here is a collection of iPhone pictures that I've been taking to document my December! :)

This Christmas my best gift will be that my whole family will be here to celebrate it and everyone is healthy! Is there really any better gift than that? I know Christmases like this one will be the ones I cherish forever. I had a discussion with some friends earlier this week and talked about our FAVORITE Christmas presents we have ever received. Even though I have been beyond spoiled over the years it was pretty hard to think of an all time favorite gift/item. The thing that stands out to me were the memories of the time spent enjoying Christmas with my family and being ever so thankful for the reason we celebrate Christmas, the birth of my Savior & King!

I have always loved the Christmas story as long as I can remember. Setting up our nativity scenes was one of my favorite things and it still is :) My heart fills with gratitude thinking back to that first Christmas and the humble way Jesus Christ was born. Two years ago I heard a song by the group, BarlowGirl, and it really touched me. When I hear a song I like, I often imagine music videos in my head, and this song was no exception. Last summer I decided to go ahead and make the music video in my head a reality, and it may not have turned out exactly as I pictured (not that they ever do, haha) but I hope it's able to help the song speak to you.
So here is my Christmas gift to you, Merry Christmas!

I headed over to the Davis Arboretum with the Hutchens family. I love it over there, so many great places to shoot! We wanted to get some cute pictures of Audrey who just turned 11 months and I think we were able to achieve just that! I don't think it gets any cuter :)

Thanksgiving & Apple Hill

This maybe the biggest post to date... but I have SO MUCH to be Thankful for, so I guess it's rather fitting. The pictures are from our recent trip up to High Hill Ranch at Apple Hill :) I'm going to interspese things that I am thankful for between the pictures. I hope you have your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving and take time to reflect on everything you can be thankful for!

I am thankful for my family. So thankful, I don't even know if being thankful for them cuts it... I would be lost with out them, I love them so much.

I am thankful for my parents and the Godly example they are to me. I hope I can be as good a parent to my own children someday!

I am thankful for my new brother in law and I am thankful that my sister Katie is married to such a great guy, a true man of God.

I am so thankful for my friends, new & old. The time I was able to spend with old friends this year was so treasured, old friends are invaluable. And the new friends I made this year are such a blessing to me, they already have influence my life in more ways than I can count.

I am thankful for the smallest dog with the biggest personality that I know of. Reese you're such a brat and yet such a heart breaker ;)

I am very thankful for two wonderful jobs. Working for my dad at his investment company and now my photography business that God continues to grow, it's so exciting! I am so blessed for God's provision from both!

I am thankful to live in America. Our country has been blessed with so much, and I pray that we remember the true reasons why our country is the nation it is.

I am beyond thankful for mine & my family's good health. My mom is doing so well, I can't even believe the improvement in her quality of life. It's a true miracle. And with so many people hurt by sickness & disease I try to not let a day go by without savoring having a happy, healthy family!

I am thankful that God created such a beautiful, amazing world for us to live in.

I am thankful for having a church where I have the freedom to gather with other believers and worship my God & Heavenly Father.

I am thankful that God has a perfect plan for my life, because if I was in charge I definitely would have made wrong choices and not be where I am today.

I am thankful for the little things like Dr. Pepper (or Mr. Pibb rather, haha), mashed potatoes w/gravy, chocolate chip cookie dough, sushi, and chocolate croissants. Well maybe they aren't so little, food plays a pretty big part of my life, haha!! ;)

Lastly, and most importantly, I am so thankful that my Savior Jesus Christ loved me so much that He sacrificed himself so that I will be able to spend eternity with Him in heaven. His extraordinary gift of grace just blows my mind, I do not deserve it yet He still takes pleasure in giving it to me.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1

Ashlyn & Rose {Dixon Photoshoot}

I had such a fun time doing this photoshoot with Rose & Ashlyn! Rose and I go way back... She took my senior pictures when I graduated high school and not long after, I started working for her doing everything from office work, editing, deliveries, and even the occasional assistant at a photoshoot. You could definitely say she was a huge part of helping me discover my love of photography! :)

Rose and I have been trying too coordinate a session for a while now and the weather finally decided to cooperate! Ashlyn is just over 6 months and she honestly could not be any cuter!

Ashlyn, you are such a happy, adorable baby!

I love seeing Rose with Ashlyn. There is no denying that she loves that baby girl to bits. It's the sweetest thing!

I had such a great time with Luke taking his Senior pictures! Goodness, it feels like I just had Rose Photography take mine yesterday! (Wow, has it really been 5 and 1/2 years since I graduated?!? Crazy!)

Luke was super easy to photograph & up for any and all of my suggestions, love that!!! Congratulations on wrapping up high school! I'm SO excited to see what God has planned for your future :)

Sick Little Computer

Happy Weekend everyone! I have so many cute/fun/gorgeous pictures to share but I ran into a bit of a bump in the road yesterday... Out of now where my MacBook Pro decided that the screen didn't feel like working anymore. Just blackness. I am lucky enough to have access to my own personal "Apple Genius" aka my bro in law, Josh, so he is able to help find out what's wrong! He's the best! Anyway, Josh took apart my poor little machine & tried this and that - but so far it's not looking good... Worst case scenario the part I'll need to replace is about $700, lame! I make sure to keep everything backed up so thankfully I'm not worried about losing any any data, I just might be in the market for a new laptop sooner than I would have liked. I can't complain too much though, life is good and God is great! Stay tune for (hopefully) soon to come pictures! :)

Ty & Michelle {Texas photoshoot}

Earlier this month I was in Texas visiting my best friend Michelle & her family. Even though it was a short visit we made time for a photoshoot and I'm so glad we did! Michelle might look familiar because I did a session of her & her baby girl when they visited California back in July. Ty may look familiar because I've come to the recent realization that he definitely resembles Mr. Schuester on the TV show, Glee! And to top it off, Ty is even a high school teacher! haha!

Anyway, back to our photoshoot. We headed out early and took advantage of all the cool places around downtown Smithville. With such a great area, ideal light, and two beautiful people that I love... it really could not have been anymore ideal! :)

Ryan & Cassie + Emma {Dixon family portraits}

I was able to do a special photoshoot for Ryan & Cassie and their NEW addition, Emma! It was extra special, because Ryan was here on a two week leave from serving over in Afghanistan. God timed his visit perfectly to be here for the birth of his new daughter and still be able to spend some time with her before he had to go back. We were able to squeeze in this shoot, & hopefully the pictures will help them feel close even though miles seperate them right now. April can't come soon enough!

There is something so unbelievably precious about a newborn.

Jonathan & Abby {Nashville wedding}

I had such a fantastic time having the chance to fly out to Nashville to assist the ever fabulous Sarah Barlow with a wedding. And I couldn't have had a more ideal wedding to help her with. Jonathan and Abby were the cutest couple! They were so in love and ridiculously happy.

They also had a very fitting Nashville venue - the Country Music Hall of Fame!

Abby you are so beautiful. Movie star status, for reals!

Jonathan & Abby opted for a First Look which worked out so perfectly because we were able to take care of all their pictures before the ceremony started, it made the day flow so smoothly! Plus it allowed for them to have these special moments together.

Judging by their reactions I think they quite enjoyed their first look :)

We started taking pictures in the Hall of Fame after normal visiting hours so we had the place to ourselves, it was amazing!

Can these two get any cuter? No, seriously... I think not.

There ceremony was so perfect. They had all of their closest family and friends & the vows were beautiful.

The Pastor said something that really left an impression on me. He addressed Jonathan and said, "Once a day ask Abby this question, 'How are you feeling?'". He then turned to Abby and told her to ask Jonathan every few days, "What are you dreaming?" I love that!

It's pretty neat how Jonathan & Abby met. Abby's sister, Jordan, worked with Jonathan. After she got to know him she realized, he was perfect for Abby! She set them up & the rest was history... Sisters really do know what's best :) During the toasts Jordan read the text messages (still saved on her phone) that both Jonathan & Abby had sent her right after their first date. It was super cute! :)

David & Tova {Portland Trash the Dress}

This past weekend I such a fun time flying up to Portland to meet up with my cousin, Tova and her husband David. (Tova has a hilarious BLOG btw, you definitely should check it out after looking at these beautiful pictures of her! One of her recent posts is all about our TTD shoot)

Some people have heard of Trash the Dress shoots and about the same number of people haven't. Let me explain for those who haven't... When you hear Trash the Dress (dress as in wedding dress) some people are quite horrified that you'd ruin something so beautiful, but that's not really the case! Nothing that a good dry cleaning can't take care of :) It's basically a golden opportunity to take some more adventurous pictures (however adventurous you may be) after you wedding day is over! (be it the day after your wedding, or months/years later...the options are endless people!)

Oregon is not known for it's sunshine, but Tova & David are starting to have a special skill of getting picture perfect weather whenever they have a photographer taking pictures of them. Not a bad talent to have. Saturday was no exception, we had the nicest weather which allowed us to get so many amazing images. I have had the hardest time narrowing the post down to these pictures....

I love the tenderness of this one, there's no denying that these two are so in love!

After some Oregon forest amazingness we moved onto the coast. We walked through the cute little town of Seaside to get down to the beach. The whole town definitely thought Tova & David had just gotten married - I love seeing people's reactions to a bride & groom out and about, they get so excited! :) With that being said we didn't have the heart to tell some of them that they had actually gotten married back in March, so Tova & David practically had a bonus wedding day. Nice!
Anyway, back to the coast. I could shoot on the beach everyday and probably never get tired of it!

Here's where things got crazy fun! We got to get wet!

Lastly, we finished up the day back in the forest. I am loving this shot of David. Can somebody say 'studly'?!

This post isn't photography related but I wanted to share something that's in the same realm of photography...Video! I made a music video last month with my new brother in-law (aka BIL) Josh (Does this guy sound familiar?). It was a surprise for Katie, my sister & now his wife.

Josh does NOT like country music. Not with a capital N. Katie looooooves it. So being the swell guy that he is, he agreed to make this fun little video for Katie. We filmed all around Dixon and Winters which is, quite appropriately, very country! Enjoy! :)

Josh & Katie {Vacaville wedding}

This is an exciting post for me to write beeeecause... it's for my sister's wedding! On September 5th Josh & Katie became husband & wife! It was a beautiful wedding and Katie was a stunning bride. I'm also thrilled to now have Josh as my brother!

They had their ceremony at the Ulatis Gardens and an intimate dinner reception at the Vacaville Opera House. When people found out Katie was getting married I was often asked if I was doing the pictures. While it would have been fun I'm very glad I wasn't the main photographer. I was in "bridesmaid/wedding coordinator mode" & was running around too much to get into "photographer mode". Which was fine by me because I was able to enjoy the day & the fabulous Rose Koogler & Ryan Greenleaf had the photography well under control because they are amazing like that :)

But you know I couldn't let the day go by without snapping at least a few pictures...

Emma was the cutest flower girl! All of the gorgeous flowers were done by Kathryn Grace Designs. I highly recommend her!

I believe that Ryan set up this awesome shot!

Lake Tahoe, CA

Every summer the Morse family heads up to one of my favorite spots in the world, Lake Tahoe! The lake is crystal blue, the views are breathtaking, the time with my family is priceless.

We took our boat on a day trip over to Sand Harbor.

Things got rather dark and stormy... which made for quite the boat ride home. What took us 45 minutes by boat to get to Sand Harbor it took us double that to get back because of the large waves the storm created! Not to mention that it was raining & thundering, we were all numb from cold by the time we got back to our condo haha!

No summer evening is complete without S'mores, even if you have to roast the marshmallows on the BBQ!

Linde Lane Tearoom {Dixon Tea Room}

Dixon's newest restaurant is one of my favorite things ever - a Tea Room! I've always LOVED going to tea rooms and have traveled to various ones in Northern California so I was thrilled when I heard that one was coming to my hometown! And I have to say it's the nicest one I've ever been to.

Linde Lane opened it's doors in July and a couple weeks ago I went by to take some pictures and for tea of course! :)

They did a fabulous job on the decor, they really went above and beyond. There are different themed "rooms". Here is the glam Princess Room.

There isn't a bad seat in the house!

One of the highlights of the tea room is the Tea Cup table! How many people can say they've gone to tea while sitting in a tea cup, it's truly one of a kind.

No tea room is complete with all the delicious goodies that go so well with tea.

And after you've enjoyed your cup of tea be sure to take a look in their store, they have so much cute stuff!

Pryor Family {Sacramento family photoshoot}

I had the privilege of doing some very special pictures for the Pryor family. Because of everyone living in various states, and even a different country, this was the first time in about 18 months they were able to be under the same roof. Together at last! You won't meet a nicer bunch of people than this group! :)

Typically my photography studio is in the great outdoors :) but because of heat, the number of people, and a toddler, we decided our best bet was indoors with the A/C on. It was a bit of a challenge having to shoot around furniture and in limited space, but I enjoyed having a chance to get out of my comfort zone a little!

Bethany & Allen just moved back to the states after living in England! I know their family is very thankful to not have an entire ocean separating them now!

Little Parker was not too sure why everyone in the room was making such a big fuss about looking at the camera. But she did what she does best, looking cute! :)

I sure miss this family! Kelly, Shelly & the girls used to go to our church before moving to Idaho a few years ago so every chance I get to see them is awesome!

John & Sara {Torrance wedding}

I had a wonderful time flying down to Southern CA to stay the weekend with my friend and fellow photographer Kristen Booth. Aka, THE KRISTEN BOOTH! ;) We have a blast together! I helped her shoot a wedding for an adorable couple, John & Sara. They had their ceremony at the Malaga Cove Library in Palos Verdes,CA and it was such a pretty spot! There was even a peacock (although it didn’t make it’s appearance until we were about to drive away to the reception). Sara was relaxed & easy going and looked SO beautiful, she was a wonderful bride to work with! It was extremely cute seeing her with John, just one look at him and you can see he is completely in love with Sara. Totally smitten :)

Sara’s Dad helped tie up her dress (none of us girls new how to tie the right type of knot!) and it made for a super sweet picture.

I had the privileged to do a fun anniversary shoot with Kris and Kristy. They just celebrated 7 years of marriage! They may look a little familiar because they are the parents of Taylor who just turned one. It's so awesome to see Kris and Kirsty so in love even after seven years, a baby, and all life's ups and downs. I pray that the next year brings you two even closer! :)

Katie's "High Tea" Bridal Shower

For my sister Katie's bridal shower my cousin Tova wanted to throw what we thought would be an "easy" tea party themed bridal shower. That turned into quite the affair that 60 lovely ladies attended. It took a bit of work but the results were lovely! :)

I haven't mentioned any of the food yet, and ooooh the food...! My sister Jessica, who is a pastry chef, was a HUGE help in that department. She made scones, brownies, jam tarts, and cream puffs!

During my birthday weekend my best friend of 14 years (since I was 9 yrs old!) was here for a visit with her 4 month old baby. It was the first time I got to meet her - outside of her mommy's tummy, so that made this visit even more special! Before they had to head back home from their whirlwind visit we did a quick photoshoot at a nearby park.

She is one of the happiest babies I have ever been around!!

XXIII - birthday post!

Well yesterday was one of my favorite days of the year - my birthday!!! I turned 23, getting so old! ;) I was so thankful to spend the day with people I love so much! Did some of my favorite things... went to Starbucks. Chocolate crossiant for breakfast, thank you very much.

Then my best friend Michelle treated me to a pedicure, the massage was heavenly!!

In the afternoon we found some antique & thrift stores to poke around in. I wanted to stuff everything into my pockets and take it home!!

The evening ended with a delicious dinner at one of my favorite restaurants ~ PF Changs!!

The only downer was that I have a bit of a cold so that was pretty lame to not feel 100% on my birthday. Thankfully it didn't effect my appetite so I was able to partake in all the yummy food. One of my favorite ways to celebrate just about anything is with food! :)

And in honor of turning 23, I thought I'd give you 23 fun facts about Shannon....

1. As mentioned, food is my friend! I love to eat! I actually am a little disappointed when I'm not hungry because I enjoy eating so much! haha!
2. I desperately want to get a French Bulldog one day. They are too adorable & I must have one.
3. I wish I always had a freshly brewed pot of English Breakfast tea just sitting there for the taking. I could drink it all day long.
4. Speaking of tea, I love tea cups, tea sets, tea parties... basically anything tea related. I just can't bring myself to like coffee. Not even the smell.
5. I've been known to take long showers but I think I've definitely improved my time over the years. For the most part.
6. I have lived in the same little old town my whole life. All 23 years of it.
7. I love traveling. Actually it's more like, I LOOOOOVE traveling. Hopefully the next year I will be able to go to some exciting places :)
8. I've never really liked being tall.
9. My middle name is Marie, which is my Grandma's name.
10. I potty trained myself when I was two.
11. I would have to say my favorite movie is The Patriot. But some runners up are Pride & Prejudice, Remember the Titans, and The Prestige.
12. I've never been able to do a cart wheel. Not a one.
13. I share the same birthday (July 13) as Julius Caesar. And with the whole month of July being named after him I find that pretty nifty!
14. Haven't met a roller-coaster I'm not willing to try.
15. I wear a contact in one eye.
16. Coloring books are way under-rated. Give me a Disney Princess coloring book, markers, and about three hours & I'll be one happy camper :)
17. When I was little my cousin Tova & I would dress up like Dorothy because we both loved Wizard of Oz. Ruby slippers & everything. (PS go check out her BLOG, it's basically the highlight of my day!!)
18. Quite often I daydream about living in a different era...
19. I can gleek and put it to good use at times.
20. I've always loved vintage/antique things. Particularly books, trunks/chests, & tea sets.
21. I'm a sap when it comes to romance. Perhaps I blame this on fairy-tales, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
22. I am so thankful that my mom isn't as sick as she was last spring.
23. I have the best family & friends a girl could ask for. I feel SO blessed :)

Katie & Josh {Vacaville/San Francsico/Napa engagement}

Last weekend was so much fun because Josh, my soon-to-be brother in-law's family came to visit. (wow that's the first time I've typed that I'll have a brother in law! weird I'm not used to that haha!) Josh's dad, Jim Rector, is an awesome photographer! So put the two of us and what do you get? A weekend filled with photoshoots! :)

We traveled all over Northern California taking picture after picture because Katie and Josh ~~didn't have a choice~~ were so willing! ;) Just kidding they were fantastic! I think between Jim and I, we took more engagement pictures than some people have wedding pictures! That made it tricky to narrow down but here are some of my favorites.

We started close to home, in the Vacaville hills... We didn't have much daylight left when we started but what was left of it made for some beautiful golden light.

The next day we headed over to San Francisco! We had the goal of getting some shots on the beach with the Golden Gate in the background. But the weather had other plans... Afternoon fog rolled in and there was no bridge to be seen! Instead we got a lot of shots around Fort Mason. It didn't have your typical 'city scenery' but I'm not complaining because it sure was fun to shoot there!

Loved this door! And the wall! Okay, and the couple too :)

Who would have thought that this garden-lke setting was steps away from the heart of SF!?

We made a quick stop at the Palace of Fine Arts - such a beautiful building!

And before wrapping up the day, we paid a visit to my other sister working at Brix in Napa,CA. I could shoot here FOREVER! Love it...

Jessica & Spice {Winters photoshoot}

The title of this post makes it sound like Jessica and Spice are a couple, but that is not quite the case (although Jessica does love Spice and Spice adores Jessica)...

Jessica is my wonderful sis and Spice is her Chihuahua. (Jessica may look familiar because she is identical twins with my other sister, Katie who I mentioned in my last post!) For fun we went to a nearby town, Winters,CA, for a photoshoot.

Right next to downtown Winters there was the coolest car parked in the drive way of a house. We snapped a few pictures...

And then, to our embarrassment, the owner drove up in his truck and saw us...

But luckily he was the nicest guy! And I think was quite flattered that we were taking pictures with his favorite little car :) So we kept shooting away!

My sister, Katie, had quite the eventful Friday. She graduated from college and is now an official Veterinary Technician! She barely had the chance to take off her graduation gown when her boyfriend, Josh, surprised her with a limo to whisk her off to dinner. At first the limo appeared to just be a graduation present... but during the ride he popped the "big question"! And she, of course, said Yes! :)

We all knew they were bound to get engaged soon but I think Katie was quite surprised that he asked her on Friday. Before they rode off in the limo and got themselves all engaged ;) I snapped this picture of the cute couple!

Stay tuned for an engagement session for these two! Josh's dad, Jim Rector, is a photographer and he is flying out from Texas for a visit next weekend. The two of us will be doing a tag-team engagement session for Katie & Josh, it will be fun! :)

Samantha & Jay {Brix Napa wedding}

I am so excited to post these pictures of Samantha and Jay's wedding in Napa,CA. First of all, it was the PERFECT wedding. The weather was perfect, the venue, Brix restaurant in Yountville, was perfect, the couple was perfect, my second shooter wasn't half bad... ;) Kristen Booth flew up from Southern California to assist me and I could not have asked for a better second shooter! (Make sure you check out her blog to see her shots!) And second, this was my first wedding as the main photographer. I was excited and nervous all at once, but with this wedding, how could you go wrong? It was so difficult to narrow down the pictures, so please bare with my long post...

We had the lovely opportunity to shoot a couple named Alyssa & Jared who will be getting married this summer. They suggested doing the session at a place they frequently go for walks at, Radnor Lake. It was perfect, the scenery was amazing! Alyssa even spotted this cute little guy on the path while we were walking up to the lake.

Impromptu Photoshoot

While in Nashville for the internship, the first photoshoot was supposed to be an engagement shoot but due to a misunderstanding it was last-minute rescheduled for the next day.... Soooo, not to waste an afternoon with cameras in hand, we did an impromptu shoot with Kristen, Sarah, and Sarah's good friend Jazz! Fun stuff! Kristen had us laughing our heads off because she pretended to be a stuck up model, fondly known as "Christy". I don't know HOW she managed to keep a straight face, which made it all the more hilarious! All funniness aside, this girl can really work that camera!

People have asked how my week in Nashville was and it's been a little tricky to put it into words and summarize in just a few sentences. We learned so much! Not only camera settings & techniques, but we also learned about ourselves, our style, editing & workflow, outsourcing, finances & taxes, and organization just to name a few things! Sarah was like an open book and let us glean all that we could from her years of experience. In the midst of all our learning us girls quickly became friends. I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls to spend the week with! :)

I would like to introduce my beautiful friends who made my week in Nashville a BLAST! Make sure you check out their blogs too! :)

KRISTEN, my fellow Californian, is fabulous!

She has an awesome sarcastic sense of humor which is right up my alley. I loved when we would have 5 minute "sarcastic conversations" about ridiculous things. She had us cracking up all the time at her albino bat impersonation or acting as though she was 'Christy' the stuck-up model (more to come on that).

Not only does she have model/acting/comedic/dancing skills, she is a Fantastic (with a capital F!) photographer! Her business is already growing like crazy and I can't wait to see where she takes things after all that she's learned in Nashville!

MEGAN is just the cutest! And I love her accent :)

She hails from the "U.P." which I learned is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan! We also have a mutual love of English Breakfast Tea, yesss!!

This girl is going to be big someday, at only 16 she is getting a huge jump start on her photography career and I am so excited for her! She is going to take the U.P. by storm with her talent! Megs, I would love to see that awesome house of yours someday, I'm super jealous! :)

KAY was awesome to get to know. She has such a sweet, easy going personality and I absolutely LOVE her laugh!

She also makes a delish chicken fettuccine! :) On top of all that good stuff, Kay is an amazing photographer with a great eye!

Kay and her sister have been running a photography business together in Kentucky and I know Kay was excited to go home to share everything she learned with her sis. Kay & Megan, both of you definitely need to come visit Kristen and I out here on the west coast! Intern Reunion trip! Oh and Sarah too of course! :)

Last but not least, the infamous, Sarah Barlow! :)
This girl is amazing, simple. as. that.

It's not your average person who can open up her home to four strangers and then teach them all the tricks of her trade, but this is exactly what she did! Thankfully, we didn't stay strangers for long :)

One of my favorite things about Sarah, aside from her fantastic laugh, is that she makes you feel like she's known you for a long time. Once or twice I wanted to say, "remember that time when..." only to realize I hadn't met Sarah before the beginning of the week! Thank you for challenging us in so many areas! Photography! Knowing ourselves! Working out! Cooking a meal! Thank you for the once in a life time experience, Sarah!

We basically laughed for two hours straight while playing our new game. If you ever need to create a gangster name, this is definitely the way to do it... it is how we and came up with all of ours!!

Hello & Good bye!

I want to welcome you to my blog and sadly say good bye to Nashville (for now)! I had the privilege of doing a photography internship with the talented Sarah Barlow along with three other great girls/interns - Kristen Booth, Megan Colleen, and Kay Lynn. Sarah let us crash her place and enjoy the AWESOME views of the Nashville skyline, but most importantly she taught us what she's learned in the photography business during the past five years. It was a fantastic way to learn and she gave me so many helpful tools! And as the cherry on top, we had a blast doing fun things like filming crazy music videos in the parking garage and laughing hysterically for an hour straight while playing Applesauce (aka Apples to Apples with a twist).

It's rather lame to start off my blog without a picture in my first post but currently I am waiting for my connecting flight in the Phoenix airport and my hard drive with all the pictures is in checked in my suitcase.... Pictures to come soon! I can't wait to share them with you :)
